MLB rolls out with its new tagline today, “Always Epic”. Just for a refresher, the word “epic” is defined as:
“majestic, impressively great, of unusually great size or extent”
Gotta be honest here, it bugs the hell out of me when brands do this (and I feel like it’s happening much more often lately). They take a term that, by definition, should only be used in very special and remarkable cases to describe unique moments in time, and completely dilute every ounce of its magic with overuse.
If something is “always epic”, then “epic” becomes the norm and a completely new set of realities is now presented. What’s next, “Uber Super Amazing Fricken All-World Everything“?!
