Two strangers talking about Memphis (one lives there, the other is visiting shortly). Visitor asks Homebody for hotel and restaurant recommendations. Homebody says Peabody for hotel and Majestic for restaurant. Her reasons: “for the ducks” (Peabody) and “the decor is awesome and the staff is super cool” (Majestic).

Notice there was not one mention of room amenities, costs, food quality, etc. It’s the memorable experiences and the “something remarkable” elements that spark word of mouth.
