Three Ways To Make Your Product More Talkable

Though it’s a bit old (circa 2006), a study done by Keller Fay and BzzAgent on product attributes that drive word of mouth outlined three (plus one I left out in the name of repetition) important elements of your product that must be addressed if you plan to spark WOM. Research showed that the most active “talkers” addressed products that were:

1. Easy to talk about: benefits that are easy to explain, clear usage guides, relevant background information available

2. Worth talking about: solves a defined problem, unique and interesting, functional

3. Something they’re proud to share with others: puts the talker in a position to help others, backed by a brand with strong ethics
