National “XYZ” Day

There are a lot of lesser-know national celebration days throughout the year, many of which are fun and interesting, that brands can utilize in compelling ways. Yesterday, August 5th, was National Oyster Day, for example. The Blue Island Oyster Company named one of their oysters “Naked Cowboy Oysters” after the infamous Times Square entertainer, a move that signaled the beginning of a marketing relationship.

For National Oyster Day, Blue Island supplied the Naked Cowboy with thousands of dollar bills to distribute to passersby, promoting their use towards purchasing oysters at the various local seafood restaurants.
