Drinking and driving is a very serious issue, and one that plagues the beer, wine and spirits category with a challenging paradox – you want to sell product but you (hopefully) want your customer to be safe and act responsibly. Sure, you could add the “please drink responsibly” tag to your advertising, but why not turn it into a fun and engaging event that will resonate better with customers? Here are two such examples:
1) The Antarctica Beer company created the first even Beer Turnstile, which allowed partiers to ride public transportation home for free by scanning empty beer cans. The turnstiles averaged 1,000 people per hour and the cans were recycled and donated.
2) The Buddy Stamp was developed by a bar that took QR codes to another level. Using the codes as an entry stamp, when scanned, they offered different information depending on the time in which they were accessed. For the end of the night, the QR codes offered information on local taxi cabs for rides home.
